Fast forward a half a decade and a day trip to Seaside Heights, New Jersey would blossom into a clever proposal.
Upon receiving the blessings of my parents, Jeff began the planning of proposing to me on the beach at Seaside Heights, disguised as his 21st Birthday Celebration- the perfect way to be surrounded by our parents, his siblings, my Aunt Denise, and one of our friends without raising suspicions. Everyone in attendance knew the plan but me- we celebrated his birthday at a Mexican Restaurant on the beach, took a stroll along the boardwalk after dinner enjoying the sights and sounds of summer down the shore, and paused at an entry point to the water to watch the waves. It was then that he said,
“Hey look at that plane,”
and there it was, the classic shoreline sky banner towing along behind a bi-plane- and it read,
“Jacqueline, Will You Marry Me?”
As I turned to look at him upon reading, he was on one knee, ready to fully propose. Many tears of joy were had by our family and friends in witness as well as a host of cheers and congratulations by so many of the strangers on the beach that day.
Now here we are ready to exchange our vows and continue on in the next chapters of our lives together.
